Away in a manger

Beer comes from grains, but there are no solid grains in beer. So where do they go? Here at Fairfield Craft Ales, our spent grains have always gone to the same place: cow bellies.

At the end of each brew day, our friend Irv Snow comes and loads up his pickup truck with the barley, wheat, rye, and oats we use in our beers.

Then he brings them off to feed his cattle at Snow’s Farm in Easton, Connecticut. He tells us the bovines love it! Here they are chowing down.
